SHANGHAI, CHINA, April 27, 2023—Jiangsu Bioperfectus Technologies Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “BioPerfectus”) announces the CE marking of one new product: Herpes Simplex Virus Type I/II Real Time PCR Kit. Combined with our Automated Nucleic Acid Extraction Workstation and Real Time PCR System, we could provide a STD total PCR solution for the early detection of sexually transmitted diseases which affect many people.
Herpes simplex virus (HSV), a common infection that can cause painful blisters or ulcers, is widespread among humans globally. It primarily spreads by skin-to-skin contact. The infection is lifelong and characterized by periodic reactivations at the infection site.
Globally, more than 500 million people have genital herpes simplex virus infection. An estimated 3.7 billion people under age 50 (67%) have herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) infection, the main cause of oral herpes and 491 million people aged 15–49 (13%) have herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) infection, the main cause of genital herpes. The overall rate of neonatal herpes was estimated to be about ten cases per 100 000 live births, equivalent to a best estimate of 14 000 cases annually roughly (4000 for HSV-1; 10 000 for HSV-2).

In order to better deal with this global burden, the World Health Assembly adopted the Global Health Sector Strategy on Sexually Transmitted Infections, 2016–2021, which aims to end sexually transmitted infections as a public health concern by 2030, focusing on vastly scale up primary prevention and increase access to screening for sexually transmitted infections.
As for herpes simplex virus, which is highly contagious and can be transmitted via any type of physical contact, early and accurate detection is needed to prevent the transmission. What’s worse, genital herpes can cause painful genital sores and can be severe in people with suppressed immune systems if left without treatment.
As a pioneer in molecular diagnostics, BioPerfectus remains dedicated to developing new diagnostic solutions, working diligently to offer a comprehensive range of STI panels. By offering a comprehensive STD diagnostic solution, BioPerfectus is committed to aiding in the early-stage screening and diagnosis of various sexually transmitted infections, ensuring accurate detection to prevent severe outcomes.
